Evolocumab — Injectable Cholesterol Drug Spells Danger For Heart Patients

| March 19, 2015

Now that more and more people have cottoned onto the fact that cholesterol-lowering statin drugs are dangerous and can do far more harm than good, the mainstream is fast moving onto their latest cholesterol-lowering snake oil.

According to Big Pharma, their latest ‘wonder drug’ can drastically reduce cholesterol levels and halve the risk of heart attacks and strokes compared to statin drugs.

The drug is called Evolocumab and it drives ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol levels so dramatically low that researchers expect that patients will almost see immediate ‘benefits’.

In this latest study, of the 4465 participants, 2,976 were randomly selected to receive an injection of Evolocumab every two or four weeks plus standard statin therapy, while 1,489 patients received standard statin therapy alone.

The average LDL ‘bad’ cholesterol level among participants was 120 mg/dL, which is the average level found among the general population (so these patients did not even have high cholesterol levels!).

Patients treated with Evolocumab experienced an average 61 per cent reduction in LDL cholesterol levels — to less than 100 mg/dL, which according to the mainstream is the desired LDL cholesterol level we all should be working towards (strange how that number always seems to get lower and lower)..

In comparison to the Evolocumab patients, only 26 per cent of patients who received statin therapy alone saw their LDL cholesterol levels fall below 100 mg/dL, while only 3.8% had such levels fall below 70 mg/dL.

Those treated with Evolocumab also showed a 53 per cent reduction in cardiovascular events, including heart attack, stroke, hospitalisation, angioplasty and death. Considering that the average follow-up of the study was just over 11 months and that most of the participants had fairly average LDL cholesterol levels to begin with, I strongly doubt that these ‘benefits’ had anything to do with the drugs, but more with the fact that the patients were healthy to start with.

Also keep in mind that when Big Pharma talks about ‘benefits’ or ‘positive results’ they rarely refer to benefits for the patient… No, the benefits and positive results they are talking about are simply the fact that the drug does exactly what it is supposed to do: lowering cholesterol.

In terms of patient benefits, there has not yet been a definitive study directly linking cholesterol to a higher incidence of stroke, heart attack or any other cardiovascular risk factors.  In other words, high cholesterol does not have a causal effect on heart disease… and yet, Big Pharma continues to tell us that cholesterol is enemy number one.

Evolocumab belongs to a class of drugs called PCSK9 inhibitors. These drugs block the PCSK9 protein that stops the liver from removing LDL cholesterol from the blood. However, this kind of drug is usually intended for the treatment of patients with hypercholesterolemia — people with hereditary high cholesterol… but now it seems that Big Pharma is so dead set on pushing their cholesterol-lowering poison to everyone, that they are even willing to test these drugs — as an injectable version — on patients who are  healthy!

That’s just madness! Too low cholesterol levels — even for those with hypercholesterolemia — will make patients vulnerable to a host of health problems.

For example, research published in the journal Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology, showed that low cholesterol levels are associated with poor memory and even memory loss in middle-aged adults. That’s because cholesterol helps your brain form memories and it is vital to your neurological function.

In fact, when another PCSK9 inhibitor, called Praluent, was submitted for approval, the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said it was extremely concerned about the neuro-cognitive side effects these drugs have shown.

That’s right, PCSK9 inhibitors damage your brain.

It’s becoming clearer every day that Big Pharma’s plan of combating cardiovascular disease by lowering cholesterol is not working. And instead of admitting that they were wrong all this time, they keep designing drugs that are more potent and getting more and more potentially dangerous… If I didn’t know any better I’d say these guys are on some sort of pharmaceutical killing-spree… Just saying.

Here's to keeping your heart strong and healthy

  1. Laura Jemison says:

I stopped taking statins months ago as I could definitely feel a brain fog effect, also after I was first put on them I suffered muscle pains so they lowered the dosage so I was already wary of them. Recently I had a fasting blood test for cholesterol. When the results came back my doctor said my results were fine, adding,”your cholesterol’s a bit high, but you’re taking statins aren’t you…” When I replied that I hadn’t taken statins for months his attitude changed & he started to try to tell me I should take them! But he’d already said I was fine! I explained that I am not convinced of their efficacy & he backed down. Thanks to you guys bringing us the truth, us patients can stand up for ourselves!

  2. Why can’t statins be stopped they don’t work they are a killers

While CoQ10 have years of scientifically proven heart health benefits, the benefits of plant sterols are still highly debatable.
